Houston-Heights, Non-profit Coffee Shop to Host Ground Breaking Ceremony, 5/2/2015
HOUSTON, Texas (April 13, 2015) - A 2nd Cup - a non-profit coffee shop in the Heights - will host Rise and Fight, a ground breaking ceremony for their new full-time shop on Saturday, May 2, at 1111 E. 11th Street. A 2nd Cup has been operating since 2012 out of a temporary space at Houston's Vineyard Church and has participated in events all over the city to sell coffee and educate the public about the issue of human trafficking in Houston. The street event will serve to ceremonially kick-off construction of the new full-time space and celebrate all that the future has in store!
The event is open to the public and admission is free. The official Ground Breaking Ceremony will begin promptly at 1pm; but there will be lots of festivities that will run from 12pm-4pm. This family-friendly event will feature live music, food trucks, coffee, free crafts and free face painting for kids, and a first-hand look at our plans for the future! Local musicians Sam Jones, David Smtih, and Chad Nichols will perform live throughout the afternoon. Fare will be available to purchase from local food trucks and A 2nd Cup will be brewing their signature coffee drinks which will be available for purchase.
There will be opportunities for attendees to provide their input into the charitable coffee shop's new digs, as well as check out the vision for the new anti-trafficking headquarters, and find opportunities to be involved.
