We are working on building out our full-time shop, which we anticipate will open in September 2015 at 1111 E. 11th St. Until that time our Incubator Location will be open on Sundays from 8:30am-1:30pm. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter to find out other places we might pop up.
IT'S OUR TIME TO MAKE HISTORY
More than 30 million slaves live in our world today, forced to work against their will, sold as prostitutes, becoming child soldiers.
HOUSTON IS A HUB
In the United States, Houston is a major human trafficking destination and distribution point due in part to the city's demographics and geography:
Proximity to the Mexican border.
Proximity to a major port.
Diverse labor force.
I-10 is a main route for traffickers.
WHAT ARE WE DOING?
We are a non-profit coffee shop doing our part to end human-trafficking in our city. Our mission:
EDUCATE: To provide an avenue for awareness of the issue of human-trafficking in Houston.
FUND: To be a money-making engine to fund after-care solutions for survivors, including housing, mentoring, tutoring, job-skills, and other necessary skills for reintegration into society.
PARTNER: To work alongside other anti-trafficking organizations to raise awareness, generate interest, and engage the public to take action in anti-trafficking initiatives.
SEPT 2011: Incorporated through the Secretary of State. Filed for 501(c)(3) status.
DEC 2011: With new brand in hand, began presenting to small groups, work events, churches, farmers markets, holiday markets, etc.
APR 2012: Received 501(c)(3) status. Raised awareness through "All Aboard" event.
JUN 2012: Opened "Incubator" location to develop processes, train volunteers, and raise awareness.
